Internship Program

An "internship" is a form of experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skill development in a professional setting. Internships give students the opportunity to gain valuable applied experience and make connections in professional fields they are considering for career paths; and give employers the opportunity to guide and evaluate talent.

NC State has associate and certificate programs in business, engineering, information technology, graphic design, health, human services, criminal justice and liberal arts. Students present a wide variety of skills and talents for meeting local workforce needs.

Internships can be paid or unpaid opportunities. Students can also sometimes incorporate internships into their academic studies, if they collaborate with faculty. This webpage offers helpful resources and tips for students and employers in obtaining and creating internships.

New internship grants are available for students and employers for 2017-2018. Check your eligibility today!
