What is an "online class"?

Online classes are rapidly becoming recognized as a convenient way in which to pursue a degree. Online courses are offered "asynchronously", which means that a student can access their coursework at any time of the day or week that fits their schedule from the convenience of their home computer. This makes the program appealing to the adult learner who may be working full-time in addition to having family and other responsibilities.
