Youth Explosion is a summer day camp for children entering 1st through 6th grade. The camp is held on the main campus of North Central State College!
Space is limited! Please register early. Parents/Guardians: You must pick up your child’s SYE camp tee shirt and name tag on Monday, June 16, 2008 between 8am and 7pm in Kee Hall.
What is the cost for attending the SYE?
The cost for attending SYE is $75 per child for the entire four days. Class selection is not necessary. Your child can also select individual days of participation at a rate of $35 per day.
What are the times for the camp?
The camp will proceed daily from 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. All children must be escorted to the registration table at Byron E. Kee Hall on the main campus of NC State between 7:30 - 7:45 a.m. and picked up from the same location no later than 12:45 p.m. Parents must come inside Byron E. Kee Hall to pick up their child as no child will be allowed to wait outside for rides.
What is the camp attire?
Camp t-shirts will be provided and must be worn daily for the safety of your child. Closed-toed shoes are required. Camp classes will be held daily rain or shine. Please dress your child accordingly. Campers may bring a small backpack.
What is the structure of the day?
Children will be divided into grade levels (1st - 3rd and 4th - 6th). We cannot honor groupings for children in different grade levels. The groups will rotate through the age appropriate camp activities listed on the opposite page. A light, healthy snack will be provided daily. Please make sure to list any food allergies on the registration form for your child. Access to vending machines is not permitted.
Can I attend the camp with my child?
Parents and guardians are more than welcome to stay on campus, wait for their child or even sneak a peek at their child during an activity. However, we discourage any family members from staying in the camp activities with their child.
What is the security for the camp?
Children will be identified as camp participants for the week and will be escorted by College faculty and staff during their entire visit to NC State. You will be asked to identify the name of the person responsible for your child’s pick-up and we ask that you NOT vary without prior written notice from a parent or guardian. The person picking up your child must sign them out before they will be released.
What should I expect in the case of an emergency?
In case of an emergency, 9-1-1 will be contacted first if you have given the authority to do so on your child’s registration. Emergency contacts will be contacted after 9-1-1. If you have more than one emergency contact listed, we will continue through each contact until a person on your emergency contact list is reached. SYE staff will use their discretion regarding minor/non-emergency illnesses and injuries. In the case of minor/non-emergency illnesses your child may be sent home if deemed necessary.
