What are the steps to apply at NC State?
High school students interested in the PSEOP program, must attend a PSEOP information
session with their parents at their high school or career center.  Please see your counselor
for dates.  Sessions are usually offered during the months of January - March!
1.    Complete an PSEOP admissions application.  Click
here to request an application.
2.    Submit a copy of the official high school transcripts.
3.    Complete the college's new student assessment if necessary.
Students wishing to participate in the program should apply to the college at least four weeks
prior to their entering quarter.

What are the entrance requirements at NC State?
A.  All students who have completed the application procedure (above) will be considered for
admissions provided that they meet the following PSEOP entrance requirements.
        1.    A high school cumulative GPA of:      
    2.50 or better for seniors    2.75 or better for juniors     3.50 or better for freshmen     
        2.    Applicants must complete the college assessment test.  Assessment testing can be waived if the
applicant has qualifying ACT scores of:
Math score of 17 or better to waive math portion
Reading score of 18 or better to waive reading portion
Writing score of 22 or better to waive writing portion
        3.     If the results of the assessment test REQUIRE the student to complete any developmental reading
courses, the applicant WILL NOT qualify for the PSEOP program at NC State.
        4.     Applicants must meet with an Academic Advisor in the Student Success Center in order to register classes.
B.    Final acceptance into the program will require each student to attend a mandatory orientation
session prior to registering for classes.  Each student attending the orientation session must be
accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Failure to comply with any of the above requirements will
result in non-acceptance to the program.

May I take classes during the summer?
Yes. 
HOWEVER, the PSEOP program is not offered to high school students during the summer.  If you
are interested in taking classes, you must enroll as a concurrent student and make payment arrangements. 
PLEASE NOTE:  Financial Aid is not available to any student who has not completed a high school diploma
or GED.

What GPA do I need to maintain in order to continue in the program?
Once enrolled at the college, the student must maintain a minimum college grade point average of a 2.0
or higher in order to continue in the program.

How many classes do I need to take to get credit at my high school?
If you are taking courses at NC State for high school credit, you MUST check with your guidance counselor
to see how your high school awards credit for PSEOP classes.  Because it differs for each high school, the
counselor must make this determination prior to registration at North Central.

What classes can I take as a PSEOP?
The easiest way to answer this question is to explain what classes PSEOP students CAN NOT take:
PSEOP students can not register for the following:
Your high school guidance counselor should be the final authority on the classes you SHOULD take
as a PSEOP student.  Please make sure to connect with your counselor before creating your schedule
at North Central and bring his/her recommendations with you when you register.

What time will my classes be? Can I take evening classes?
You are able to take evening classes as your parents allow.  Click

How and when do I get my books?
Books and all other materials REQUIRED to complete the course are free of charge to PSEOP students. 
PSEOP students will receive a letter advising them of when they can pick up a book voucher from the
cashier's office.  Books must be returned to the instructor at the end of the course or no grade will be
reported for the student.

What do I do when my high school is closed for a snow day?
Remember, as a PSEOP student, you will be required to attend all classes on the NC State calendar
which may differ from your high school calendar.  In the case of snow days, North Central reports all
school closings to the local TV and radio stations.

Who can I speak to if I am having trouble with a class?
The Student Success Center is available to assist with any difficulties with courses (including Tutoring

What happens if I do not pass a class?
Completing a class with a failing grade will impact a PSEOP student on various different levels.  As the
PSEOP student, you should notify your counselor immediately of any concerns you have with the challenge
of the course work.  Beyond that, the Ohio Department of Education provides information on the impact of

Do I need a student ID and where can I get one?
Campus facilities (i.e. computer labs, Bromfield Library, etc.) require use of a Student ID for a variety of
services.  As a PSEOP, you are allowed to obtain a picture ID from the Campus Recreation Center (CRC)
You are, however, restricted from participating in the intramural sports offered by the CRC.

Do I need to reapply for admission into NC State if I decide to remain after high school graduation?
No. Should you choose to remain with NC State to complete your associate degree or continue taking classes, you will not be asked to complete a new application unless you miss more than two consecutive quarters.
