NC State Academic Advising

NC State believes that quality, academic advising services are critical to a student’s success. Several different kinds of academic advisors are available to meet with students, each with a specific area of expertise:

Recruiters in the Admissions Office assist new and re-entering students with the admissions process and program information.

Every student is also assigned a faculty advisor who is knowledgeable about the student’s declared major. Any students with curriculum questions are encouraged to meet with their faculty advisor. Faculty advisors may be contacted by phone, e-mail, or by appointment through their faculty offices. To find contact information for your particular faculty advisor, see the Faculty Directory.

Last, the Student Success Center has a team of academic advisors on hand at all times to assist students with first time registration and questions related to academic planning.  These advisors work closely all new and re-entering students and students in who are part of the Directions program or on academic probation.  Students in the Directions program or on academic probation are REQUIRED to work with an advisor in the Student Success Center each quarter.  This ensures that the student is taking the necessary steps to be successful.
