Critical Thinking
Critical Thinking is the ability to distinguish between fact and opinion; ask questions; make detailed observations; uncover assumptions and define their terms, and make assertions based on sound logic and evidence (Ellis, D.)
Measurable Objectives:

Upon graduation, North Central Sate College students should be able to:

  • Clarify points of an argument

  • Extend an argument

  • Distinguish between fact and opinion

  • Analyze elements in a complex issue

  • Think through complex issues with judgment and insight

  • Summarize and synthesize a complex issue

Assessment Plans:
  • Administer the CAAP test to random capstone classes in selected programs every other year with the expectation that our students will score as well or better than other students attending similar colleges.
  • Administer CCSSE survey every other year and capture critical thinking assessment from the data.
