Progress Report 3
May 27, 2008 - The Search Committee has had a responsive pool of prospective candidates from which to choose, representing individuals locally and from across the country through a nationally-advertised process.

After reviews and deliberations, we are pleased to inform you that the Search Committee has invited five individuals to interviews on May 30, 2008.  Based on the outcomes of these interviews, the Search Committee will forward its recommendations to the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees will then make its decision on which individuals to invite to the campus for public forums in early June.  The following five individuals have accepted to meet with the Search Committee: 

Dr. John W. Ganio is Vice Chancellor for Education, St. Louis Community College, a three-college district in Missouri, a post he has held since 2004. Previously, Dr. Ganio was Dean of Academic Affairs at Herkimer County Community College in New York from 2001 to 2004 and was Assistant Provost in the SUNY System Administration in New York for three years.  Dr. Ganio holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Policy Studies from the University at Albany, a degree in the Science of Education in Community College Education from the University of Iowa, an M.A. in English from the University of Iowa, and a B.S. from the State University of New York at Oneonta. 

Ms. Para M. Jones is Vice President for Advancement, Planning, College and Community Relations, Stark State College of Technology in Ohio since 2005.  Her previous positions at Stark State included Vice President for Advancement and Student Services, 1998 to 2005, Executive Assistant to the President,1996 to 1998, and Director of Marketing and Communications from 1987 to 1996.  Ms. Jones is a doctoral candidate at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, anticipating a Ph.D. in December 2008 in Higher Education Leadership.  She holds a M.B.A. from Ashland University and a Bachelor’s degree from Mount Union College. 

Dr. James Larry Kimbrow is, since 2005, Executive Vice President and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Three Rivers Community College in southern Missouri. Previously at Three Rivers he was Dean and Associate Dean of Career Education and Workforce Development from 1998 to 2005.  Dr. Kimbrow holds a Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, an M.S. in Operations Management from The University of Arkansas, a B.S. from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, a B.A. in Management from Western Illinois University, and an A.S. from State Technical Institute at Memphis. 

Dr. Joseph E. McCann is President of Williston State College in North Dakota since 2000.  Previously, from 1996 to 2000, he was Vice President of Education and Student Development at Tomball College, near Houston, Texas, and Dean of Instruction from 1991-94 at Highland Community College in Kansas.  He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in Higher Education, an M.S. from Purdue University in Chemistry and a B.S.E. from the University of South Dakota at Springfield.  

Dr. Herbert H. J. Riedel, Vice-President for Instruction and Student Development, Northeast Texas Community College since 2005, was previously Deputy Director of the Nanoscience Technology Center at the University of Central Florida in Orlando in 2005 and Arts and Sciences Division Chair at Tri-Country Technical College in Pendleton, South Carolina, from 2000 to 2004.  He holds a Ph.D. in pure mathematics and a MA in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, and a B.S. from the University of Pretoria in South Africa.
