Trouble Accessing Your Student E-mail Account

If you are having trouble accessing your student e-mail account, the following could be the answer.

If you can get to the Student E-Mail server at http://mail.ncstudent.net but can’t log in:

1.         Your Account has not been established yet

If you registered for class within two weeks of the beginning of the quarter, chances are your account has not been established yet.  Please allow 1-2 weeks after the quarter begins for your account to be established.  If you still can’t get into your account by the end of the second week of the quarter please call the IT Help Desk.

2.         Do you have AOL?

If you have AOL, you will need to use it to make your internet connection then minimize it and click on Internet Explorer.  AOL interferes with the login procedure.

3.         Your password may be incorrect.

If your password (last four digits of social security) begins with a 0, you may have trouble logging in. On rare occasions your password could have been inputted into the system incorrectly. Please contact the IT Help Desk for a password change.

4.         How can I pinpoint the trouble to my home computer?

Try to log into your student e-mail account from a campus computer.  If you are able to log into the student e-mail system from campus, the trouble is with your home computer.  You may need to contact your internet service provider for help.

5.         Trouble remembering your Username?

You can also log in using you full name that you registered for classes with.  For instance, Jessica Monroe could log in as jessica monroe or monroj0908 (remember to use a space between first and last name and to use all lower case).

When I go to http://mail.ncstudent.net , I select English, click on go and the second page is blank.

1.         Are you running a home firewall?

The simplest way to find out if a firewall is causing the problem would be to disable it temporarily and then try and access the Student E-Mail system.  You may need to set your firewall to allow browser information.

Please remember to contact the IT Help Desk for login and password trouble.  We do not trouble shoot home computer or internet provider problems.  E-mail program on-line help is available for program functions.  In addition, you may visit www.ncstatecollege.edu/it/sudents  for step by step instructions on how to use the e-mail system.  If you need to contact the IT Help Desk make sure you leave your full name, social security number, your birth date, a way to contact you, and the exact trouble you are having.
