Who is entitled to an email account?

All currently “registered” students will be given an e-mail account.

When can I access my account?

The student email service begins fall quarter of each calendar year. If you are a new student, your e-mail service will be available one week prior to the beginning quarter that you have registered for. Late registration may delay your email access.

Where can I access my account?

You can only access your email account through the web at: http://mail.ncstudent.net

NC State email is a web-based service so you can access your email from any computer that has internet access.

What is my initial password?

Your password has been initially set to the last four digits of your social security number. We strongly suggest you change this password the first time your use your account.

What can the student’s e-mail account be used for?

The assigned email account is primarily intended for communication between students and College staff and faculty. However, it is a full featured email account and can receive any e-mail messages and attachments.

How long will my student account be active?

The student’s email account will be made active in the quarter in which the student registers for any North Central State College credit course and will remain active as long as the student remains registered. Each fall quarter, all email accounts and their contents will be purged and reinitialized for the coming academic year.

Do I need special hardware or software requirements to access my student e-mail account?

The email system is available to any computer that has access to the internet and is running an internet browser. No additional software or hardware is required.

What is the name of my email account?

Your student email address will be the first five letters of your last name, followed by the first initial of your first name, followed by your birth month and date (using 2 spaces for each). For example: If a student, Jessica Monroe, had an email account with the birthday of September 8th, her email address would be: monroj0908@ncstudent.net .

What is my user name?

Your user name is the same as your account address without "@ncstatecollege.edu". For example: if your email account is named monroj0908@ncstatecollege.edu, then your user name is monroj0908.

Can anyone get into my account?

Anyone can send you a message at your email address. However, your account will be password protected and will not be accessible by anyone else to read messages unless you give them your password.

Can I change my password?

Yes! Your original password has been set to the last four digits of your social security number. North Central State College strongly recommends each student change their password the first time they log into their email account by clicking on Options, then Password.
