| When I startup Internet Explorer, the screen says
"Detecting Proxy Settings ..." and my home page never comes
up. How can I fix this? |
This issue can occur if Internet Explorer is trying to locate a proxy
server. This can occur for either of the following reasons:
- In Internet Explorer 5, Proxy Auto-Discovery is enabled by default, and
this feature may make it appear as if Internet Explorer is not responding.
- Your computer is on a network that includes a Dynamic Host Configuration
Protocol (DHCP) server that does not include Web Proxy Auto-Discovery (WPAD)
information in its DHCP packets. This may prevent Internet Explorer from
locating a proxy server
To keep this from happening...
If you connect to the Internet using a LAN:
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel,
and then double-click Internet.
- Click the Connection tab, and then click LAN Settings.
- Click the Automatically detect settings check box to clear it,
click OK, and then click OK.
- Restart your computer.
