Classroom Technology
Users Group

Co-Chairs: Cindy Freeman & Mike Renock-Welker
To promote the use of technology in the classroom in order to advance student learning. Has been meeting regularly throughout Fall quarter. The group has identified issues in classroom technology use and facilities, published the first annual Instructional Technology Services Guide, helped develop the new portable “Smart Carts,” had a number of technology demos from faculty experts, is evaluating wider rollout of a number of technologies & developing best practice guides for a number of technologies. Digital Divide Task Force
Chair: Cathy Craig
To provide equal opportunity to those students who lack the hardware, access, or basic skills needed to use a computer and utilize the internet. Focusing on cataloging and publishing what is currently available for campus and community basic Internet skills training, Hardware and Internet Access. The first result of this effort is the first annual Community Public Internet Access Guide. (11/06)
Distance Learning Team
Chair: Gina Kamwithi,
To advise and coordinate best practices, standards and procedures for effective distance teaching & learning. Has developed and is refining a standardized development process for new Distance courses. The process provides for resources & faculty orientation as well as quality assurance for both faculty and the college. The group is also working on establishing a quarterly DL Think Tank for all DL faculty.(11/06)

Task Force

Charge by TLTR - Research and lead pilots with new technology. Report to TLTR on broader implementations/recommendations. Organizing Winter '07
Flashlight Assessment
Co-Chairs:Tom Prendergast & Mike Renock-Welker,
The Flashlight Task Force is responsible for compiling, administering and collecting data for both an annual student and faculty TLTR survey to measure progress on effectiveness of technology use on campus. Group has received questions from almost all TLTR subcommittees and is compiling them into the respective surveys. The group hopes to administer the first survey in early Winter quarter.(11/06)
Information Literacy
Task Force

Chair: Mike Renock-Welker,
To Provide the opportunity for all NCSC community members to have lifelong learning skills to find, evaluate and apply needed information. Has been asked by the Assessment Committee to form the criteria and recommend assessment methods for the Computer Literacy Core Competency. The group has created a draft set of skills and is working on recommendations for how to assess these. The group needs to hand in final recommendations by December 7.(11/06)
