Tutoring
Tutoring services are provided for North Central State College students who are “struggling” in their academic coursework. Depending on the course, tutoring services may be provided by either a Faculty tutor or a Peer tutor. To take advantage of the Peer tutoring services the student must be regularly attending class and attempting the assignments and coursework. Tutoring services are free to currently enrolled NC State students.
To receive help in the following subject areas simply walk in to the Tutoring Resource Center and ask the person at the front desk if someone is available to help you. Help is available in the Tutoring Resource Center often on a walk-in basis or by appointment in the following areas:
- Accounting
- Math
- NET Test Prep
- Note Taking
- Reading
- Stress Management
- Test Taking
- Time Management
- Various Sciences
- Writing
- Many More!
Faculty Tutors
Come to the Tutoring Resource Center to find out when these tutoring sessions are held. Some Faculty tutoring sessions are also held online.
Peer Tutors
Peer tutoring is one-on-one help in a course that you are taking. It usually involves one hour per week, according to your time schedule. It is free of charge and can be provided for almost any course on campus. Usually the tutoring is done by a student who received (or is currently receiving) at least a “B” in the course. All peer tutoring takes place on campus.
Would you like to be a tutor?
If you are interested in being a Peer-Tutor, please print and then complete the “ Application to be a Tutor”. You must be a currently enrolled student who has been recommended to tutor by their instructor and who has received at least a “B” in the course (or is currently in the course and averaging at least a “B”). Student Peer Tutors are paid for their service by the college.
