TEAS V Entrance Test

Register for the TEAS V

The TEAS V is used to help place students in clinicals for various health degrees. This test is not required for admission into a degree, but it is required for admission into clinicals. The higher your score, the more likely you will be allowed to enter clinicals. The lower your score, the less likely you will be invited to enter clinicals.

TEAS V Test Dates and Times

The TEAS V is a  4-hour computerized assessment, and will be administered at NC State on the following dates:

Caution:  The TEAS V test dates offered in 2014
 
will qualify towards applications and consideration for most programs for 2015.
Seating is LIMITED!

 

The following changes for the TEAS V went into effect on August 26, 2013:

  • MATH-0074 and CHEM-1010 (high school chemistry) will be pre-requisites to the TEAS V.
  • The TEAS V may only be taken three (3) times per calendar year.

 

Seats will fill up quickly.  Be sure to register as early as possible to secure your seat.

The test dates listed below are all subject to the changes mentioned above (MATH0074 and CHEM1010 prerequisites, 3-time test limit, and $55 fee per exam).

Registering for the TEAS V Test

  1. Create an Account with ATI Testing
    Visit ATI Testing and click on "Create an Account" (unless you already have an account with ATI).  This mandatory registration will allow you to take your test and retrieve your results when you are done testing.  No more waiting weeks for your results to arrive!  Note:  It is not necessary to "Register" for a test date through the ATI website.  This must be done through the Cashier's office (see next step).
  2. Register by paying the Cashier's Office - All fees are NON-REFUNDABLE
    Print a copy of the April - June Registration Form (PDF format). Complete the form and take it to the Cashier's Office in the Fallerius Building along with your payment.   Cash, check, money order, or credit cards are accepted.

    Costs are as follows:
    • Non-refundable fee of $55.00
      (Note:  Price is increasing to $60.00 effective July 1, 2014)
    • Registrations will NOT be accepted on the day of the exam.
  3. Verify Registration
    Soon  after (within 1-2 days) you pay your fee to the Cashier's office, you will receive an e-mail confirmation regarding your test date.  Your NC State Student E-mail account will be used to communicate with you.  Or login to MyNC, click on "My Class Schedule", choose "Non Credit XXXX (XXXX = school year, example Non Credit 1112 for 2011-2012), and click Submit.  The date(s) and times of any TEAS V tests will be listed on your schedule.

 

TEAS V FAQs

  1. How can I prepare for the test?
    Students who wish to prepare for this examination may borrow a copy of the TEAS V Study Manual from the Bromfield Library or work with a tutor in the Tutoring Center in Fallerius, room 119, free of charge.  Students can purchase their own copy of the TEAS V Study Manual at the Campus Bookstore.  Online Practice Assessments are also available for purchase by visiting ATI Testing.

    PLATO TEAS V Prep Course
    You may also contact the Admissions, Advising, and Enrollment Services office in Kee Hall to enroll in the "PLATO TEAV V Prep" course.  This is an online program using "PLATO" software which offers a pre-test in each of the 4 content areas - math, reading, science, and English.  Once the pre-test has been completed, lessons are available to review the content areas that need the most practice.  The Plato website can be found at http://ple.platoweb.com.   
  2. How do I know if the test is still available?
    Before you drive to campus to pay to take the TEASV, you may want to call ahead to be sure seats are still available.  Please call Cathy Craig at 419-755-4736 for seat availabilty information.
  3. What should I bring on test day?
    On the day of the test, arrive 15 minutes prior to test time and one form of identification with you. Suggested forms of identification are a driver's license, social security card, high school or college I.D.  Scrap paper will be provided and NO CALCULATORS are permitted. The test will be taken on a computer.  Each section is timed, however, each student will work at their own pace.
  4. How soon will I know the results?
    Through ATI's website - Test results will be available by logging into your ATI Testing account approximately 1 hour after your testing session has closed.  Read "How to Access My Results and Remediate" for detailed instructions on how to access your results and create your personalized "focused review" plan for future studying.

    Through MyNC - Within 48 hours of your test, you may also check your scores online by logging into MyNC.  Once you have logged in, click on Assessment Summary.  Your composite score will be indicated as "TEAS V Composite".
  5. What if I need to reschedule?
    If you cannot attend on the date indicated, and you must notify the Student Success Center by calling 419-755-4736 or 419-755-4764 at least 7 days in advance of your scheduled test time in order to reschedule; otherwise, another non-refundable fee will apply.  Studentswill be permitted to reschedule one time ONLY.  Students who fail to give 7 days notice will be required to pay another $55 fee to schedule a new test date.

    Please provide the following when calling to reschedule:
    • Your name
    • Student ID #
    • Phone number
    • Your original test date
    • The new test date you would like to reserve
  6. What if I miss my test date?
    All appointment no-shows will be required to re-register through NC State by paying another registration fee.
  7. Can I talk to someone about my test results?
    Questions about your test results can be directed to Cathy Craig, NC State's Coordinator of Student Assessment Services, at 419-755-4736 or the Student Success Center at 419-755-4764.
  8. What is my standing in the application pool?
    For more information on your application pool placement or to complete your special application to become a part of the application pool, please contact Betty Hager at 419-755-4805 in the Health Sciences Office.
  9. Can I Transfer TEAS V Scores From Other Colleges?
    Yes, TEAS V test scores will be accepted from other colleges as long as all four subject areas were tested - reading, mathematics, science, and English - and your test results include an "Adjusted Individual Total Score".
    Please note:  TEAS V scores from Ashland University (Ashland, Ohio) will only be accepted if taken after March 1, 2012 due to the use of calculators prior to that date.
