Academic Advising

Academic advisors are on hand in the Student Success Center throughout the quarter as well as between quarters to be of assistance to students. Academic advising goes well beyond the one-time question of “How do I put my course schedule together?” Advisors are on hand to help students deal with problems that come up in the course of their academic careers. Our goal is to help students deal with any “barriers” that they might encounter in their path in a productive and timely way, thereby enabling them to be successful in reaching their academic goals.

The advising staff in the Student Success Center makes every effort to help students in their areas of need. Advisors are always available on a walk-in basis or by appointment to help register students, answer questions, discuss academic goals, and act as a general mentor. Advisors also act as a reference point by directing students to resources that can help them to be successful in college.

Advisors in the Student Success Center work with any student who needs assistance:

New & Continuing Students
PSEO Students
(High school Post-Secondary Option)
Probationary
Directions Program
(Students who are required to take RDG or WRT classes or MTH100, MTH102, or MTH103 early in their college coursework)

Faculty Advisors

Every student is also assigned a faculty advisor who is knowledgeable about the student’s declared major. Any students with curriculum questions are encouraged to meet with their faculty advisor.
