Pay-to-Print

Starting Fall Semester 2012 a new feature will be added to your NC State ID card. You will have the ability to pay for computer print outs using your NC State  ID card.

All NC State students must obtain a new NC State ID Card from the Mansfield Campus Recreation Center to take advantage of the Pay-to-Print feature. The ID cards will function like a debit card and you will be able to deposit money into your account.

Printing from NC State Computers

A new NC State ID card is required to print from a NC State computer. A 7¢ fee per black & white page (VCMT & CRMJ students - 25¢ fee per color printed page) will be charged to help cover the rising costs of printing. All computer labs will accept your NC State  ID for payment.

Wireless Printing is availible for personal Windows or Macintosh laptops. 

Students Please Note: You may only print wireless to a classroom printer IF you are attending a class in that room.  Open computer labs are available to all students for wireless printing.

If you have wireless internet capabilities on your laptop, you can now print in our labs and classrooms at NC State. A 7¢ fee per black & white page, (VCMT students - 25¢ fee per color printed page)                    will be charged  to your NC State ID card account. 

In order to print from your laptop via wireless to one of our printers, you must first install the appropriate print driver package to your device. Each print driver package is unique to the corresponding building/room number. You will need to download and install a print driver package for each individual building/room where you want to print.

Installing a Printer Driver

A printer driver is only necessary if you plan to print wirelessly from your personal laptop computer to printers at NC State. Download the appropriate driver from the list above and then follow the installation instructions for your computer platform listed below.

• Installation Instructions: XP | Vista | Windows 7
  

  The driver will automatically detect your Windows operating system.

  For Internet Explorer users, click the provided link and select run.  Note: For Internet Explorer 10 users select Run, then Actions, and then select Run anyway. If prompted by user accounts control click Yes.

  For Mozilla Firefox users, click the link and select save file, then right click the file in the download window and choose open.  If prompted by user accounts control click Yes.
  Other browsers will work in a similar fashion.
  Important:
  Once the driver has been downloaded and ran, a dialog box will appear.  Click the Accept button, and then click the Install button.  A progress bar will appear near the top of the Dialog box immediately and will begin to fill with green.   There are several download and install phases that will need to be completed.   Click Finish to close the dialog box.

• Uninstalling Instructions: XP | Vista | Windows 7
  

  Click Start – All Programs-Pharos-Uninstall Pharos.  Follow the on screen prompts

• Installation Instructions Macintosh:  Click on the appropriate dmg link from the table above.   The file will appear in your downloads folder.  Double click the file and then the package.  Follow the onscreen prompts.

Once you have the printer driver installed, follow the same pay-to-print instructions as you would when printing from a NC State computer.

• Pay-to-Print Wireless Instructions
