ELET 1710 - Introduction to Robotics
2 Credits; 1 Lecture Hours; 2 Lab Hours
This course covers the basic programming, operation, interfacing, troubleshooting and OSHA safety standards for industrial robots and workcell systems. The primary focus is on the use of automatic parts-handling equipment, contour applications and interfacing with emphasis on design for manufacturing. Topics include the use of conveyors, parts feeders, positioning equipment and safety systems. Hands-on laboratory experiences will include teaching positions, programming the robot controller using the computer, interfacing limit and proximity switches, layout of conveyors, transfer stations, simple jigs and fixtures and interfacing multiple robots into a single workcell. Required as Prerequisite or Concurrent: Take ENGR-1010
