http://www.ncstatecollege.edu/cms/student-success-center.html

The Student Success Center is a facility that offers an array of support services designed to help students be as successful as they can be in their academic career. The Center is staffed by a team of professional staff members and adjunct faculty. Located in room 136 of Kee Hall, the Student Success Center is conveniently open weekdays, many evenings, and specified Saturdays. Services are offered in the areas of academic advising, personal counseling, disability services, career exploration and new-student assessment. The advising services offered by the Student Success Center are available, free of charge, to any student currently enrolled at NC State. Students are welcome in the Center on a walk-in basis or by appointment.

An early Academic Alert can be sent to any student on your roster that is not performing as well as expected.

Academic Advising

http://www.ncstatecollege.edu/cms/student-success-center/academic-advising.html

NC State believes that quality, academic advising services are critical to a student‘s success. Several different kinds of academic advisors are available to meet with students, each with a specific area of expertise. Advisors in the Student Success Center (SSC) assist new, re-entering, and continuing students with developing goals and a course schedule, and registering online. The SSC has a team of academic advisors on hand at all times to assist all students with questions related to academic planning.

The SSC advisors work closely with all new students and any others who need advising. They also work with students who are part of the Directions advising program or on academic probation or reinstated. These students are REQUIRED to work with an advisor in the SSC each quarter. This ensures that the student is taking the necessary steps to be successful.

Every student is also assigned a faculty advisor who is knowledgeable about the student‘s declared major. Any students with curriculum questions are encouraged to meet with the faculty advisor. Faculty advisors may be contacted by phone, email, or by appointment through their faculty offices.

Academic advisors are on hand year round to help students plan their class schedules, learn about the resources available on campus, and learn more about how the academic environment operates. Students are encouraged to stop in to the Student Success Center any time they have questions and are not sure where to go to get them answered.

Disabilities Services

http://www.ncstatecollege.edu/studentsvcs/SSC/Disability.htm

The Office of Specialized Supportive Services provides resources and services to assist students with documented disabilities in their efforts to reach their academic goals. Note-takers, taped textbooks, referral source contact, and alternative testing accommodations are some of the services offered by this office. Support services are provided through the cooperative efforts of the student, faculty, and staff involved. It is the responsibility of any student needing these services to contact the Coordinator of Specialized Supportive Services.

Personal Counseling

http://www.ncstatecollege.edu/cms/student-success-center/personal-counseling.html

Free, personal counseling is available to currently enrolled NC State students who feel that certain problems in their personal lives are preventing them from being able to focus on their academic work. The goal of this program is not to provide long-term counseling, but rather to help students focus on their immediate barriers to success, explore options, and take the actions necessary to be academically successful. Interested students should contact an advisor in the Student Success Center.

Plato Lab

The Plato Lab is a computerized math lab that allows students to complete their assignments at home or in the lab. This is a hands-on math class that has an instructor available for help if needed.

Tutoring Services

http://www.ncstatecollege.edu/cms/student-success-center/tutoring.html

Free tutoring is available to currently enrolled NC State students. Tutoring may be provided by faculty and/or student (peer) tutors in most subject areas. In addition to tutoring, the Tutoring Resource Center in Fallerius also houses numerous flyers and handouts designed to help students succeed in their college courses. Students are encouraged to visit the Tutoring Resource Center if they are interested either in being paid to be a tutor or in getting free, academic assistance.
