IT — software development
The Information Technology (IT) – Software Development program at North Central State College trains students to develop, deploy, and maintain computer solutions that satisfy business needs. Industry principles and practices are used extensively throughout the program to provide the fundamentals of software development along with practical aspects and competencies required by industry. The program gives students the knowledge and skills they need for entry-level positions within the software design profession, including:

Graduates can be involved in program design, testing, and program and Web site maintenance, and may be involved in developing and writing new programs that help companies organize information and increase productivity. Graduates could be employed in a wide variety of industries, such as banks, software development companies, insurance companies, internet sales companies, manufacturing enterprises, government agencies, and educational institutions.
Web Development Specialization is available
Students interested in a Web Development degree may complete an associate of technical studies (ATS) degree which combines classes in both Information Technology Software Development (ITSD) and Visual Communication – Graphic Design (VCGD) programs.
Where You Could Go
NC State has over 40 agreements with four-year colleges and universities to provide a smooth transition for students who want to pursue a bachelor's degree. Through university partnerships, some four-year courses are also offered on the NC State campus or online.
North Central State College has articulation agreements specifically for Information Technology Software Development students with Western Governors' University and Franklin University.
