President Diab will direct our attention to the important work being done to ensure we end this fiscal year with a balanced budget. Our CFO, Koffi Akakpo will talk about where we are and what remains in order for us to "Make the Grade." Dr. Karen Reed, CAO, will discuss some additional items of current importance regarding recruitment, retention, and "our full-court press" in helping students come to NCState.

April 19, 2013 (22m58s)
Dr. Diab has asked Barb Keener to talk about Tutoring Services, Embedded Tutoring, the Solutions program, the Quick Start (pre-college) program, as well as the Jobs and Family Services Grant we recently received and how it complements our efforts on Student Success. Barb will reinforce the information she briefly imparted at the in-service and try to put what this all means toward the Success of our students into a more clear perspective. For many, who might not see themselves as “College Material” this is the kind of support information we need to know to help them breakdown that stigma and not only “Help Them Come to North Central State College” but to “Help Them Complete” once they get here.

April 5, 2013 (38m57s)
President Diab hosted a conversation to emphasize the College focus on our other priority “success” and how we are addressing the question: “What are we doing to help students COMPLETE? Dr. Diab asked our 2013 Faculty Member of the Year (Margaret Puckett) and our 2013 Adjunct Faculty Member of the Year (Deborah McDaniel) to join him in this conversation. Each talked about student success in the classroom and what kinds of intervention are working to help students through the rigors of the curriculum as well as overcome the other challenges they typically encounter on their way to Completion.

Each of these discussions are not separate activities but rather complementing activities toward a common focus, “to help students come to North Central State College.”

North Central State College

President
Dorey Diab, Ph.D.
Introduction Bio
I'm delighted that you are interested in knowing more about our outstanding college.
On behalf of the NCSC Board of Trustees, faculty, and staff, it is my sincere pleasure to welcome you to our college and our website. Each fall, several thousand students, along with dedicated faculty and staff begin their academic year at North Central State College. Students also attend classes at our Urban Center in downtown Mansfield, or at the Kehoe Center in Shelby, and through alternative delivery begin a rewarding career, others are here beginning their education, planning to transfer to another institution and continue toward a bachelor's degree.
A very special thing happens when you visit our college campus...
you will begin encountering people who take pride in their role toward helping students succeed. It may be the campus security officer in the parking lot or maintenance workers and other staff as you progress toward your destination. Once in a building, you will encounter committed and caring faculty and staff who will engage you, guide you and support you as you progress toward your goal, whether it is a course, a certificate or a college degree.
Please take a moment to explore our website.
You will discover a wide range of information about programs, services, and opportunities in healthcare, business, engineering and manufacturing, information technology, public services, and arts and sciences. You will also discover that the cost of attending North Central State Collge remains one of the most affordable tuition rates in the state of Ohio. That's why we continue to convey that "The best Financial Aid is Low Tuition." It's not just how much aid you receive for college, it's about how much you have to pay.
In addition, I invite you to explore Career Coach, which will give you localized information on careers, training for those careers, as well as regional job opportunities available in those fields.
When you combine the value of your education here at NC State...
with the proven, increased earning potential of recieving an associate degree or industry recognized certificate, I hope you will agree that this college is the place to start, and finish, your college education.
We are very proud of our strong reputation.
North Central State College is a leader in affordable quality higher education with employable and transferable programs to help our community and its citizens prosper. We look forward to seeing you on campus very soon! It is an honor and a privilege to be of service.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dorey Diab, President
