Mandatory Math Placement
As of January 2, 2007, many of the programs in the Health an Public Service Division were affected by Mandatory Math Placement. Listed below is how these changes have affected each program.
As of Summer, 2008, all students must complete one of the following math requirements to meet graduation requirements for all Associate Degree programs:
► Complete MTH103, or a higher level math course, with a grade of C- or higher, or transfer credit.
► Take the COMPASS and get a Numerical Score (NU) or 61 and an Algebra Score (AL) of 31 or higher.
► Take the ACT and get a Math Score (MT) of 21 or higher.
Associate Degree Nursing
Mandatory Math Placement will affect you is you are applying or reapplying for the Associate Degree Nursing program.
Prior to January 2, 2007, Pre-Associate Degree Nursing student (Pre-Nursing major) could meet the Application Pool algebra requirements by completing high school algebra.
As of January 2, 2007, to fill the Application Pool algebra requirements, a student must complete one of the following:
- Complete MTH103, or a higher level math course, with a grade of C- or higher, or transfer credit.
- Take the COMPASS and get a Numerical Score (NU) or 61 and an Algebra Score (AL) of 31 or higher.
- Take the ACT and get a Math Score (MT) of 21 or higher.

Criminal Justice
Mandatory Math Placement will affect you if you need to take CRJ225 Criminal Investigation I.
As of January 2, 2007, high school algebra will no longer meet the prerequisite requirements to enroll in CRJ225. To meet current prerequisite requirements, the student must complete CRJ145, ENG201, CRJ111, and one of the following:
- Complete MTH103, or a higher level math course, with a grade of C- or higher, or transfer credit.
- Take the COMPASS and get a Numerical Score (NU) or 61 and an Algebra Score (AL) of 31 or higher.
- Take the ACT and get a Math Score (MT) of 21 or higher.

Health Services Technology
As of Summer, 2008, prior to graduation from an Associate Degree program, all students must complete one of the following math requirements to meet graduation requirements:
- Complete MTH103, or a higher level math course, with a grade of C- or higher, or transfer credit.
- Take the COMPASS and get a Numerical Score (NU) or 61 and an Algebra Score (AL) of 31 or higher.

Physical Therapy Assistant
Mandatory Math Placement will affect you if you are applying or reapplying for the Physical Therapy Assistant program.
Prior to January 2, 2007, Pre-Physical Therapy Assistant student (Pre-PTA major) could meet the Application Pool algebra requirements by completing high school algebra.
As of January 2, 2007, to fill the Application Pool algebra requirements, a student must complete one of the following:
- Complete MTH103, or a higher level math course, with a grade of C- or higher, or transfer credit.
- Take the COMPASS and get a Numerical Score (NU) or 61 and an Algebra Score (AL) of 31 or higher.
- Take the ACT and get a Math Score (MT) of 21 or higher.
Mandatory Math Placement will affect you if you need to take PHY 114 General Physics.
As of January 2, 2007, high school algebra will no long meet the prerequisite requirements for PHY114. To meet current prerequisite requirements, students must complete one of the following:
- Complete MTH103, or a higher level math course, with a grade of C- or higher, or transfer credit.
- Take the COMPASS and get a Numerical Score (NU) or 61 and an Algebra Score (AL) of 31 or higher.
- Take the ACT and get a Math Score (MT) of 21 or higher.

Practical Nursing
Mandatory Math Placement will not affect Practical Nursing and Pre-Practical Nursing students.

Radiological Sciences
Mandatory Math Placement will affect you if you are applying or reapplying for the Radiological Sciences program.
Prior to January 2, 2007, Pre-Radiological Sciences students (Pre-Radiology major) could meet the Application Pool algebra requirements by completing high school algebra.
As of January 2, 2007, to fill the Application Pool algebra requirements, a student must complete one of the following:
- Complete MTH103, or a higher level math course, with a grade of C- or higher, or transfer credit.
- Take the COMPASS and get a Numerical Score (NU) or 61 and an Algebra Score (AL) of 31 or higher.
- Take the ACT and get a Math Score (MT) of 21 or higher.
Mandatory Math Placement will affect you if you need to take MTH121 Technical Math.
As of January 2, 2007, high school algebra will no long meet the prerequisite requirements for MTH121. To meet current prerequisite requirements, students must complete one of the following:
- Complete MTH103, or a higher level math course, with a grade of C- or higher, or transfer credit.
- Take the COMPASS and get a Numerical Score (NU) or 61 and an Algebra Score (AL) of 31 or higher.
- Take the ACT and get a Math Score (MT) of 21 or higher.

Respiratory Care
Mandatory Math Placement will affect you if you are applying or reapplying for the Respiratory Care program.
Prior to January 2, 2007, Pre-Respiratory Care students (Pre-Respiratory major) could meet the Application Pool algebra requirements by completing high school algebra.
As of January 2, 2007, to fill the Application Pool algebra requirements, a student must complete one of the following:
- Complete MTH103, or a higher level math course, with a grade of C- or higher, or transfer credit.
- Take the COMPASS and get a Numerical Score (NU) or 61 and an Algebra Score (AL) of 31 or higher.
- Take the ACT and get a Math Score (MT) of 21 or higher.
Mandatory Math Placement will affect you if you need to take MTH121 Technical Math and/or MTH121 Technical Math.
As of January 2, 2007, high school algebra will no long meet the prerequisite requirements for MTH121 and PHY114. To meet current prerequisite requirements for both courses, students must complete one of the following:
- Complete MTH103, or a higher level math course, with a grade of C- or higer, or transfer credit.
- Take the COMPASS and get a Numerical Score (NU) or 61 and an Algebra Score (AL) of 31 or higher.
- Take the ACT and get a Math Score (MT) of 21 or higher.
