AQIP:      WHAT is it?

The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) offers two alternatives for institutional accreditation -- the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) and the Program to Evaluate and Advance Quality (PEAQ).  Accreditation through AQIP is based on the College's application of principles and processes of continuous improvement.

The HLC has five Criteria for Accreditation.  AQIP has nine categories that correlate with the Commission's Criteria.  The nine categories are included in AQIP's Principles and Categories for Improving Academic Quality

An overview of accreditation is available for download at http://hlcommission.org/resources/overview/

The Handbook of Accreditation, Third Edition, provides more complete information about PEAQ and AQIP and is available for download at http://hlcommission.org/resources/handbook/
