Respiratory care practitioners are members of the health care team that provide respiratory care for patients with heart and lung disorders. Respiratory therapists are highly motivated, intelligent, caring, able to employ critical thinking skills, and are willing to grow with the profession. The NC State program provides the student with a strong background in the use of respiratory equipment, cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology, hemodynamic monitoring of blood flow, and pathophysiology.  The student receives direct, hands-on, patient care experience in various hospitals and facilities throughout their clinical education. Students in the program can expect hands-on experience starting the 2nd quarter of the program. After completing the 3rd quarter classes, students may be employed in a hospital as a Respiratory Therapist under a Limited Permit issued by the Ohio Respiratory Care Board.
