What Will I Learn in This Class? -
This course will help you develop your ethical reasoning and critical thinking skills, while examining and developing your ethics beliefs in a variety of contexts. You will gain an understanding of what ethics is, the qualities of an ethical person and the stages of moral development. Ethical relativism and a number of the major universal ethical theoretical frameworks will be introduced (Divine Command, Utilitarianism, Deontology, Virtue, Care Ethics etc.), with the strengths and shortcomings of each compared and contrasted. You will then apply these theories to a variety of contemporary ethical issues and situations and work with the concepts in action.

Pre-Requisites -
Cannot be on academic probation; no course pre-requisites. (Note: The course will make use of Blackboard, NC Student e-mail and online resources, so if you are uncomfortable using these technologies, you may have difficulty being successful in this course.)
