Sony Mavica FD-95 Digital Camera

Lab's Mavica Digital CameraThe Sony Mavica is the Polaroid for the new millennium.

All pictures you take with the Mavica are saved onto a regular 3.5" floppy diskette.

So with the automated "point and shoot" setup of the Multimedia Lab Mavica, you just have to put in your floppy diskette and click away. When you're done shooting, simply take your floppy (or floppies) and insert them into one either the Lab Desktop computers or one of the lab laptop computers and pull your photos off the disk and into Adobe PhotoDeluxe or Photoshop and tweak your pictures as desired.

What This Equipment Can Be Used For:

This camera can be used to capture images to illustrate your Powerpoint presentations or enhance your handouts or to spruce up your class website. Somebody once said that a picture is worth a thousand words. So why spend ten minutes trying to verbally describe a widget, when you can simply go take a picture of it and illustrate your widget lecture?

Let's say you're trying to lecture your students on the evils of improper punctuation usage... You could go out into the real world and found a 12 feet high sign possibly asking (or exclaiming?): "Why Pay More!"

For more information on using the Mavica and Adobe PhotoDeluxe, sign up for the "Intro to Digital Still Picture taking & Editing" Faculty Technology Class or contact the Instructional Technologist for a One on One Session on this topic.

For More Information on the Sony Mavica FD-95, please see Sony's website.
