Canon Elura Mini-DV Camcorder
Compact and powerful little cameras like the Elura are helping to make Desktop Video Publishing a reality for anyone. All imagery that is taken with the Elura is recorded onto a Mini-Digital Video tape inside the camera. From this tape, you can playback your video to make sure you captured what you were after as well as for "downloading" your movies and stills to one of the Multimedia lab computers This "download" of your movies and stills is done through the Elura's built-in FireWire connector. This downloading is done through either MGI's VideoWave or Ulead's VideoStudio digital video editing software package found on either the Lab Desktop Computers or the Lab Laptop Computers. From there, you can edit and enhance your movie in either one of those programs and output it to VHS tape, the web, Powerpoint, a CD-R disc etc. For more information on Desktop Video Publishing and using the Elura, sign up for the "What Is Desktop Video Publishing?" Faculty Technology Class or contact the Instructional Technologist to setup a demonstration of this procedure. What This Equipment Can Be Used For:This camera can be used to tape demonstrations of procedures or equipment or places or people that it might not otherwise be feasible to bring into your classroom. Anywhere you and this wee camera can roam, your class can then virtually be edified by "in the field" illustrations or experts in the course material. Either through in-class playing of a VHS tape, or through distribution of CDs or over the web etc. there are many many options for how to share your video creations with your class. For More Information on the Canon Elura, please see Canon's website. |
