Physical Therapist Assistants work under the direction of physical therapists to rehabilitate people who are ill or have been injured. They give therapeutic treatments that may include exercise to improve muscle strength and coordination, and the application of heat, cold, water or electricity to relieve pain or to improve the patient's condition.

To provide the health care community with graduates skilled in caring for the physiological and psychological needs of patients.  Students will be aware of the scientific rationale for their activities and knowledgeable about the past, present, and future forces acting upon the state and national health care system.  Students will learn to operate state-of-the-art medical equipment and will be prepared to deal with the ever changing technology and information that occurs beyond the academic setting.  The program fosters development of a professional individual committed to quality patient care that is responsive to change.
